After reading about Mathilde and her jealousy that caused her to waste ten years of her life over something superficial, I have no pity for her.
This section really upset me because clearly the husband was eager to take his wife to this event where he knew that she would have fun and take a break from her usual, daily routines, but she was so ungrateful for the invitation because she wanted a new dress to go to the event.
This story by Guy de Maupassant reminded me that we should be grateful for what we have in life and not be so envious of what others have.

Give your invitation to some friend of yours whose wife will be turned out better than I shall. At the beginning of this story they were known as middle class people, but because of their dishonest ways they lost everything. Overall, I think that the lesson could have gone better. They searched for an identical one in numerous jewelry stores, and soon finds one. Mathilde and her husband spend the next ten years scrimping and saving to pay off their debt. People should not take what they have for granted and be more happy with the people that they have in their life rather than the things they possess. Mathilde, a young, married women, suffering from poverty, spent all her days dreaming and fantasizing about the rich and popular life she envied.
I know what I have in life, and no, my life is not perfect, but I do not get to the point where I have to spend all of my money and hard work for something so superficial as a new dress or a necklace.

She was going to do the impossible to look stunning in the evening reception at the Ministerial Mansion. It covered whole group reading, phonics instruction, read alouds, and poetry. But her worst mistake is trying to deceive Madame Forestier by telling her she is having the clasp repaired and then substituting a real diamond necklace for the one she borrowed without knowing it was a fake.
Maybe she could have kept her beauty is she decided to just be satisfied with a modest life her husband had provided her with.

If anything, I feel anger towards her for being so blind at what she already had. Mathilde and her husband realized that they were going to have to buy Madame Forestier a new necklace similar to the old one, and that it was going to cost them their life savings. She shows a strong desire to not be bothered by anyone and. In conclusion, Mathilde was so caught up in living the luxurious life that she forgot who she was and what she had in life. Instead of being optimistic about life, she continues to be negative about everything that comes her way. Mathilda's actions in this story completely disgusts me. To begin, one section of the short story really upset me with how Mathilde had to beg her husband for a new dress, knowing that it would be difficult to afford one. His time on earth was never wasted and he truly taught me how to live. She is the type of person who is never content with anything she gets; the more things you give her, the more she'll strive for. She had a caring husband, a home to live in, clothes on her back, and food on the table. Jealousy and Greed The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant is a short story about a woman who spends and wastes her life away over something that was not even real. Only I haven't a dress and so I can't go to this party. They gave Madame Forestier the Necklace, and, in ten years, they were able to pay back their debt. I know what I have in life, and no, my life is not perfect, but I do not get to the point where I have to spend all of my money and hard work for something so superficial as a new dress or a necklace.
